These are the places that live rent-free in my head — destinations I’m actively planning, vaguely dreaming about, or saving up for one day.

  • Morocco — the medinas of Fes and Marrakech
  • Ethiopia — Lalibela’s rock-hewn churches
  • Tanzania — Zanzibar and a budget safari

🌏 Asia

  • Mongolia — a ger stay on the steppe
  • Kyrgyzstan — trekking the Tian Shan mountains
  • Bhutan — when the budget finally allows it

🌎 Americas

  • Colombia — Cartagena to the coffee region
  • Bolivia — the salt flats at sunrise
  • Patagonia — hiking Torres del Paine

🌍 Europe

  • Albania — Europe’s last undiscovered gem
  • Georgia — Tbilisi and the Caucasus Mountains
  • Kosovo — the capital Pristina on the cheap

🌊 Oceania

  • Papua New Guinea — the Highlands Festival
  • Vanuatu — diving the SS President Coolidge
